The mission of the European Institute for the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA) is to better understand what causes ageing. Our studies are focused on the mechanisms that result in loss of cells with age and the decline in the function of old cells and tissues.

Lars obtained his BSc from the University of Groningen (UG) with a major in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Philosophy. He is currently enrolled in a 2-year research MSc program at the University Medical Center Groningen/UG. Within this program, he decided to perform an internship in the LaCava group at Rockefeller University to study the endogenous LINE-1 interactome. His interests cover (but are not limited to) evolution, cancer sciences, biochemistry, proteomics and molecular biology, which al come together in LINE-1 research.
